This article guides you through updating your Dartcom software to the latest versions available on our Downloads page.
Check licence keys
You may need to update your Dartcom licence keys to be able to run the new software versions. To check, follow the instructions below.
- Run Dartcom Licence Manager (Start > All > Dartcom > Dartcom Licence Manager).
- If the new software versions are higher than the versions shown in the Licensed components box, your licence keys will need updating. Open a support ticket and request new licence keys before going any further, otherwise the new software versions won't work.
- If the new software versions are lower, or no version numbers are shown, your licence keys don't need updating and you can continue.
Check security device (dongle) compatibility
Determine what software versions you're currently running using the About... button in XRIT Ingester, Geostationary Ingester and Polar Orbiter Ingester, and Help > About... in iDAP/MacroPro. If the versions have a letter at the end (6.4h, for example) you'll need to perform the check below before updating. If the versions contain only numbers (6.5.3, for example) you can skip this check.
- On the PC the dongle is connected to, click the following link or paste it into the address box.
http://localhost:1947 - The Sentinel Admin Control Center should be displayed. If not, open a support ticket for help.
- In the Sentinel Keys list, look for a dongle with 46805 in the Vendor column and a number in the Key ID column. If several are listed, disconnect all but the one with the highest number in the Version column. To help with dongle identification, you can use the Blink on buttons in the Actions column to flash each one's LED.
- If no dongles are listed, check your Dartcom dongle is connected to the PC and you aren't using Windows Remote Desktop. If so, it's incompatible.
- If Sentinel Key Version Not Supported is shown in the Actions column, your dongle is incompatible.
- In all other cases, your dongle is compatible and you can continue with the updates.
If your dongle is incompatible, it'll need to be replaced. To arrange that, please open a support ticket and don't go any further, otherwise the new software versions won't work.

Perform extra steps if upgrading XRIT Ingester to Geostationary Ingester
If you've previously been using XRIT Ingester, this has now been replaced by Geostationary Ingester. After installing the Geostationary Ingester update, you must follow the instructions in this support article to add anti-virus software exclusions and replace taskbar icons and startup items.
