Disabling serial enumeration in Windows

If you have an NMEA feed connected to a serial port (virtual or physical), Windows might detect this as a serial mouse, which causes mayhem. In order to prevent this, before you connect your NMEA stream, do the following:

1. Open Registry Editor.
2. Navigate to the following key:
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\sermouse
3. In the right-hand pane, select Start and change its value to 4 to disable serial mouse detection at boot time.
4. Restart the PC.
